2008/09 Season.
The new season has begun for Middlewich Town with 4 friendly games being played resulting in 3 wins and a loss, two of the wins coming at home against opposition much higher up the leagues, namely Witton Albion and Hanley Town, add in to that an away win against Maine Road.
There have been a number of player changes in the off season, Most noteably Joey Roberts, probably now in the twilight of his playing career, taking up a Player/coaching role with Neil Gill at Alsager Town, the management, Staff and players wish him luck with his new career path.
Along with Joey, other noticeable absentees in attack are Andy Whitney and Dean Clark, and with Stuart Tulloch finally joining Congleton Town after being courted by them for most of last season.
In defence we lost Dave Shore who took a job abroad towards the end of last Season, and Lee Jones who has joined Joey at Alsager.
There's plenty of new faces to learn at Seddon Street this year, and some old faces coming back to the club.
Ian Stainton and Ryan Broardhead return after spells at other clubs and also the return to full fitness for Adam Morris, Ian and Adam will be straight back into the defensive line-up with Chris Jump, Alex Lowe, Steve Capper and Sean Came, to provide plenty of choices.
The Midfield remains largely unchanged with team Captain Craig Stevens staying in his role with Gary Bryning alongside him, and having Simon Taylor available as a capable replacement should the need arise.
The wingers Jon Edwards and Steve Warburton have remained.
We are joined up front by Dave Tasker who will be hopefully creating a formidable strike partnership with Mike Brandon, and add in Matty Davis, who has show fantastic pace and ability, and Ryan Broadhead who's ability in attack means that we now have more options for the front line.
In Goals, Matt Conkie has stayed on with Middlewich after proving such an asset at the end of last season.
To fall back we also have a number of Reserve team players who are more than capable of stepping up should they be required.
All in all, some exceptional players have come in for this year , and from what we have seen in the friendlies so far, the skill level on the field has created
some exciting games, and there is a good feeling for the year ahead.
